Five Brightest Apparitions
|
|
|
The oppositions circumstances from 1995 through 2050 were computed by
Brian D. Warner.
For each year, the following information was computed: Date of opposition, opposition
magnitude Date of maximum brightness, magnitude at brightest, approximate declination when
brightest Date of closest approach to Earth, distance at closest approachFrom this
database, data on the five brightest apparitions was gathered and put into text files.
Each line has the same format:
# O.M. O.D. B.M. B.D. DEC YEAR O.M. O.D. B.M. B.D. DEC YEAR ...
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
1 6.7 12 18.2 6.7 12 18.3 +25 2012 | 6.7 12 17.0 6.7 12 17.1 +25 2035 | ...
If an asterisk appears next to a given year, e.g., 2018*, that means that apparition is
particularly favorable. This is defined to be when
Range of brightest to faintest apparition is > 1.0m
Brightest in given year is 0.7m or more brighter than (brightest + faintest) / 2 - the
average apparition.
Each line is 225 characters long (not including the CR/LF pair)
To save download time, the files have been put in ZIP format, each one containing data
on 10,000 asteroids (except BRT1 which has 9999). |
