Displaying 3-D Models
MPO LCInvert displays 3-D models of asteroids using Open GL. There are two type of
views.
Model View
The Model View displays a 3-D rendering of the
model that can be animated. The viewing angles and "camera zoom" can be changed
to provide different looks at the model. As a check of the quality of the model, the
original lightcurve data can be compared to the lightcurve data generated by the model.
4-Vane
The 4-Vane View displays four fixed views of the
selected model: from over the north pole, from over the south pole, from above the equator
at local noon, and from the equator at the sunrise line. Unlike the Model View, the views
are fixed. The only options are to change the zoom value (make the four models change
size) and the rotation rate scaling (seconds / hour) |
